In the book, Stuck in the Shallow End, two of the problems that came from the reading that will cause a potential problem with my Imagine IT project are, finding a place in the daily schedule to add in writing time. Another problem may be finding a way to ensure that teachers receive professional development on giving effective feedback to students writing. As I begin to fully implement my Imagine IT project, to address the above problems I will suggest that during the math block the last 5-10 minutes that is required to be used for closing, teachers can have the students to write a reflection of that day lesson at least three times a week. The teachers will use the reflections to see what the students understood and what they still may struggle with. This writing should be used as an assessment tool. In regards to the teacher training, I will utilize the weekly GLC (grade level meetings) to model how to give effective feedback on the students writing in their math class. I will use the actual writings from my class to give the teachers a sample of what the feedback should look like.
